Bhaderwah, November 02 (KNO) : Authorities on Friday extended prohibitory orders to neighbouring Doda district in Chenab Valley after a senior BJP leader and his brother were killed by suspected militants in Kishtwar town even as the Indian Army (4 RR ) conducted flag marches in Bhaderwah town of Doda district .Additional District Magistrate Bhadarwah, Dr Ravi Kumar Bharti imposed curfew in Bhadarwah town at 4:30 AM as a “ recautionary measure” in view of killings of BJP state secretary Anil Parihar, 52, and his brother, Ajeet Parihar, 55 by unknown gunmen last night “Prohibitory orders under section 144 Cr PC remain imposed in entire Doda district included Bhaderwah as a precautionary measure while curfew has been clamped in Bhaderwah town and some parts of Doda town,” Doda district police chief Shabir Malik said. The senior superintendent of police told KNO that the army has been put on a stand-by in the area.“The army ( 4 RR) staged a flag march this morning in Bhaderwah town. There are no adverse reports. The situation is peaceful . Police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in strength,” said the officer.Telecom authorities have also slowed down the speed of the internet in Bhaderwah and other areas of Chenab valley to check rumour mongering. It is also important to mention here that because of curfew in Kishtwar, board exams of Higher Secondary Part-I scheduled for Friday were canceled in five centers of the town. However in Bhadarwah, the exam was conducted normally and roll number slips of candidates were treated as curfew passes.Inspector general of Jammu and Kashmir police Dr SDS Jamwal said they were are probing all angles in the case, including militancy.“The BJP leader was a protected person and was given two (personal security officers (PSOs). How they were not with him last evening? Were they sent home on leave by the BJP leader? We are investigating all these aspects,” Jamwal said. When asked whether the killings were a terror attack, the top official said it was premature to say anything “at this stage” as a probe has just started.“A special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted. I neither rule out nor confirm the terror angle at this stage. We are doing an open investigation , probing all possibilities,” he said.(KNO)
